Last Day at Work

So Friday was officially my last day as a pharmacy technician at the student health center pharmacy. It was bittersweet to leave in the sense that I will miss that place so much, but at the same time, I am leaving because I am graduating! In order to work at the pharmacy for the school you have to be going to school full time. I have loved working at the pharmacy for almost 2 years now. The people I worked with were amazing and the atmosphere was great. I have learned a lot more about medication than I ever really thought I would...and I guess in the long run its a good thing because I know what to take and what NOT to take. The only thing that I wont miss are the nightmares I have about counting pills over and over again!
One thing I was bummed about last week is that I didnt get to work with Shawn, my boss. Shawn is really the best employer you could ask for. He has taught me a lot and was always understanding about different school situations that we all had.
The girl in the pictures with me is Whitney Howard. Whit and I have worked together for the last 4ish years. We worked together at Valley Professional Pharmacy and then at the BYU-Idaho pharmacy. She really should have been my sister, and people say that a lot. We just have always been able to get along and have our own little inside jokes that no one else understands but us. We always had to good intentions of doing our homework when we got to work, but it was honestly next to impossible when we were together! Whit is one of the sweetest people I know and I sure am going to miss her. She got accepted to the RAD tech program at Weber State on Thursday, so I am excited for her. She will do great. Good Luck Whit!

Romantic Getaway

A few weeks ago, my wonderful hubby stopped in while I was working and asked me if I wanted to get away for the weekend. I about dropped dead! For one, Destry doesnt come in and see me at work. I can count on one hand how many times he has been in the student health center! The other thing is we never really go on getaways....so needless to say I was speechless!

I got home from work, we loaded up the car, and took off. I had no idea where we were going. Destry just said it was a suprise. We ended up in West Yellowstone for the night. We stayed in a hotel and then went to the bear/wolf discovery center the next day. After we explored there for awhile, we packed up and went to the Fish Hatchery. It was nice to just get away and not worry about school for a weekend. I am so glad that we can still have fun together. Destry is the best friend that I could ever ask for and the best husband. Thanks hun for the great weekend! I love you!

26.2 Miles of Fun?......

My husband thinks I'm nuts, my Grandma Worrell wants to know if I have rocks in my head for brains and my parents want to know who's child I am....but.....I signed up for the Salt Lake City Marathon about a month ago. Don't ask me why, but ever since I was little, I would watch runners on T.V. and I always told myself I would run in a marathon. I am nervous and excited, but I think I will be okay. I have been running 20 miles on Saturdays to get ready. The marathon is next Saturday. Wish me luck!

Catching Up

Brenda and I: One of the most amazing people ever!

(Mrs. Nedrow, Mrs. Briggs, Me and Mrs. Shenton)

I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog, and since I am at work, and it's REALLY slow, I think I'll get a head start....

First things first.....IM DONE!!!!! I am officialy done with student teaching. I finished last Thursday! I was really sad to leave, and we had a boobing fest before we walked out to the bus, but this has been a long 4 years and I am glad that I'm done! I have applied to every school from Ashton to Idaho Falls, so I am hoping to get a job somewhere. My dream job would be part time so that I can be a mom eventually.

I can't legally post any of the pictures of my students but here is a picture of me and the first grade teachers. These ladies are hilarious! I love every one of them and they taught me so much! Here we are on the last day!
A big thanks needs to go to Brenda Briggs. She was my cooperating teacher this semester, and I could not have asked for a better example of a teacher. She was always there for me and she became a great friend as well.

My last day was so much fun. We have been reading the book If You Give a Pig a Pancake so in the morning, we all got together, made pancakes and danced. Mind you, we don't usually do this but they decided since it was my last day we would just have fun. After the pancake party we played games and had ice cream. It was so much fun.

Dinner at Applebees with 2 of our favorite people: Mitch and Roz!
I just wanted to make a quick post and tell Destry HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It was yesterday, but I didn't get on here until then. We celebrated the big 25 last night by going to the movie "Clash of the Titans" and then meeting up with Mitch and Roz for some tasty food at Applebees. I love you hun and I hope you had a good one.

Student teaching conversation #2

I wore a button down shirt to school today. I only buttoned the top buttons and left the bottom undone and had a cute undershirt underneath it.

Student: Teacher, why dont you have your whole shirt buttoned up?

Me: Because that is the way I wear this shirt.

Student: (looking innocently and in a concerned voice) Well are you just fat or something and thats why you can't button it up but you are too embarassed to tell me that?

Me: (trying not to laugh) No, I just like to wear it that way.

Student: Okay, I know the real reason, but I wont tell anyone. Now come here so I can try to help you button up the rest of your shirt!

You've got to love kids! They are the only ones that can tell me I'm fat and I'm not going to cry about it! :)

Student Teaching Update

Conversation of the day:
Student:Teacher?
Teacher: Yes?
Student: Why arent you wearing any makeup today?
Teacher: I'm wearing makeup today, see? (I show her my mascara and eyeshadow)
Student: Well I dont believe you. You arent wearing any today and it makes you look old.
Student 2: Yeah you look kind of tired and old today!
Teacher: Well, I guess I will try to put on a whole bunch tomorrow so I look nice for you!
Student: Okay, thanks!

Kids can be so brutally honest at times, but I think thats one of the many reasons I chose to become a teacher and why I love them so much. I have always liked people to be straight forward and tell me how they really feel...no beating around the bush. The lesson learned from this whole conversation is that even if you go without one little thing that you usually have on (it happened to be eyeliner that day) the kids are going to notice! I got a kick out of it, because I really do usually wear eyeliner, but I have had exzema under my eyes lately so it irritates them to put eyeliner on so I chose not to that day!

Student teaching is going so well. I could not have asked for a better cooperating teacher or class. The kids are so sweet and I am learning so much from them everyday. Mrs. Briggs is an amazing teacher. She goes out of her way to show me different things she has used in the past and is very supportive. I have been teaching the whole day for the last little bit for the most part, but Tuesday is my first "official" day to take over the classroom for the whole day. I love teaching, and I really hope I can find a posistion when I am done. I always knew that I wanted to teach, but now that I am actually in the classroom doing it and not sitting at my computer doing busy work for classes, I REALLY love it! I am supposably "the teacher", but honestly I learn something new from each child EVERY SINGLE DAY! I want to be able to make a difference in each students life and that is my goal for now.

Our Kids

Our Kids
These are our two kids. Bailey is our yellow lab and we got her on the 21st of Feburary. She's so smart and full of energy. Then our newest edition is Rugar our little black lab. We just got him on the 26th of April. He's definately more out spoken then Bailey is and doesn't let her push him around. That's all the kid's were going to have for now.

About Me

We got married on the 4th of Janurary. We dated for almost 3 years so lets just say we really knew each other before we got married. We got married in the Idaho Falls Temple. Liz just graduated from BYU-Idaho with a bachelors in Elementary Education. She will be teaching 1st grade at South Fork Elementary School in Archer this coming fall. I just finished my final year of school going into being an Electrian. I still work for Xtreme Electric and still keeping really busy with summer coming.
