Conversation of the day:
Student:Teacher?
Teacher: Yes?
Student: Why arent you wearing any makeup today?
Teacher: I'm wearing makeup today, see? (I show her my mascara and eyeshadow)
Student: Well I dont believe you. You arent wearing any today and it makes you look old.
Student 2: Yeah you look kind of tired and old today!
Teacher: Well, I guess I will try to put on a whole bunch tomorrow so I look nice for you!
Student: Okay, thanks!
Kids can be so brutally honest at times, but I think thats one of the many reasons I chose to become a teacher and why I love them so much. I have always liked people to be straight forward and tell me how they really feel...no beating around the bush. The lesson learned from this whole conversation is that even if you go without one little thing that you usually have on (it happened to be eyeliner that day) the kids are going to notice! I got a kick out of it, because I really do usually wear eyeliner, but I have had exzema under my eyes lately so it irritates them to put eyeliner on so I chose not to that day!
Student teaching is going so well. I could not have asked for a better cooperating teacher or class. The kids are so sweet and I am learning so much from them everyday. Mrs. Briggs is an amazing teacher. She goes out of her way to show me different things she has used in the past and is very supportive. I have been teaching the whole day for the last little bit for the most part, but Tuesday is my first "official" day to take over the classroom for the whole day. I love teaching, and I really hope I can find a posistion when I am done. I always knew that I wanted to teach, but now that I am actually in the classroom doing it and not sitting at my computer doing busy work for classes, I REALLY love it! I am supposably "the teacher", but honestly I learn something new from each child EVERY SINGLE DAY! I want to be able to make a difference in each students life and that is my goal for now.

gosh.. wear more make up liz! Seriously... ha gotta love those kids!
Oh how I miss elementary school. That is the greatest conversation. Funny thing, kids that age would think we are the same age because we are the same size. If you were taller, you would be older than me. :)
I am lucky as can be too, love every minute of it. High school kids are great, weird, but great.
Liz, you will make a great teacher. Good luck with doing the whole day. I'm sure it can be great fun. I enjoy the kids when I substitute so I'm sure you will love it.
